Roaming the land: Dirty Bourbon River Show doesn’t stay in one place for long

There’s no break from the road for Noah Adams. And it’s just the way he prefers it.
“We’re always on tour,” he says during a recent phone interview. “There’s not much time to stay in the same place.”
Adams is a member of the New Orleans-based Gypsy circus rock outfit Dirty Bourbon River Show. The band recently released its new album, “Important Things Humans Should Know.” The album marks the band’s 10th effort.
“I’m always writing songs and when they aren’t down on paper, I put them in a database in my head for safe keeping,” he says. “The songs were recorded in two weeks as the album came together fairly quickly.”
Adams says the band, which includes Dane “Bootsy” Schindler, Jimmy Williams, Matt Thomas and Sandra Love, has been adjusting some of its older songs for this tour.
“The songs are never really done,” he says. “We try out different instrumentations on a lot of the songs. We also were road testing the new material before we took it to the recording studio.”
Adams says the past couple of years have been great for the band. The band’s music and live performances have been getting more attention.
“When we learn something new, it keeps pushing the daisies,” he says. “We’re always looking to draft more players and more songs into our sets.”
While the band has been making music for more than a decade, Adams says the members are constantly pushing themselves creatively. He says it’s important for the band to never stay in one place too long, which is represented by how much the band tours.
“One way we accomplish that is by switching it up,” he says. “There is never a set list for us to play. We go into each show with an idea, but that usually is just the starting point.”
